Located in the southeast of the island of St Barts, Grand Fond is considered one of the most mysterious, beautiful and pristine bays. The beach is covered with rocks, and small and precious seashells; even though the tide is not recommended for swimming, you can enjoy other activities, all of them worthy of the best adventurer.
The beach is accessible either by driving through Lurin, or through Lorient; you may find parking in the western area of Toiny and from there, you can take the road marked as Grand Fond, and soon arrive at the promised beach!
You can venture down a rocky path surrounded by unique wildlife and flowers, and if you are really lucky you may even come across a native inhabitant of the island: a wild goat strolling by. Delight yourself with a walk by the now famous small walls of Grand Fond, that will accompany you almost all the way.
The final destination will be idyllic natural pools that are located right in the heart of large orange rocks.
After walking along the rocky paths and doing a bit of hiking, there comes the jackpot. Away from any tourist trail, you will find the secret natural pools of St Barts. It is a well-kept secret, because like all good things, they are hard to get to.
Although finding this wonderful place involves a bit of hiking, you will have no problem if you are not the athletic type, just be sure to bring sunscreen, as you will not find any place to cover yourself from the sun.
As you climb up the rocks you will have incredible views of the Caribbean Sea and also of the mountain. The road ends with a great descent, which is why we recommend wearing sports shoes. From this point, you will be able to appreciate two natural pools: a spectacle that you must experience at least once in your life!
The natural pools of St Barts will offer you a warm and serene sanctuary surrounded by the wild waves of the bay. The waters are turquoise and crystalline and the contrast between the blue color of the Caribbean Sea and the greenish tone of the natural pools is breathtaking. It is the perfect place to take a break from everyday life and appreciate all the landscapes that nature offers us.
